Shamble Rules of Play

Format:

  • A match will consist of two players per team selected by the team captain.

  • Each player tees off.

  • Team selects best drive and both players play from that spot.

  • After the second shot each player plays their own ball for remainder of hole.

GOLF RULES:

1.  Everything must be putted out unless the putt is given to you by your opponent

2.  If you hit a ball OB (out of bounds) from the tee box or if you suspect your ball may have gone OB you must hit a provisional from the tee.  If you find your original ball and it is not OB you can play that ball without penalty.  If you must use your provisional ball then you are lying two hitting three.  If your provisional also goes OB then you are lying four hitting five.

3.  If you hit a ball into an area that the ball may not be found OR an area that looks OB but has no white stakes then you must hit a provisional from that same spot.  If you find your original ball then you play without penalty.  If you must play the provisional then you must take a penalty.

4.  If you hit a shot from an area other than the tee box that goes OB you must hit your next shot from that same spot (same rules apply as #’s 2&3).

5.  Play all stakes as stated in the rules of golf or agreed upon by all in the group.

6.  Entry fee is $100 per golfer.

7.  Closest to the pin for each round will be played at $1 per hole per par 3.  All must participate.

8.  A captain can pair up the same two people only once.

9.  During match play the opponents will ride together in a cart.  All other rounds teammates may ride together.

10.  One scorecard will be turned in per foursome and that will be considered the official scorecard for the foursome.  This scorecard will be turned into Smitty at the conclusion of the round and signed by one member of each team prior to turning in the scorecard.

11.  All players in the foursome should help to find a lost ball whether it is a player from their own team or an opponent.  This will help speed up play.

12.  You have a maximum of five minutes to find a lost ball per PGA Rules.

13.  Absolutely no fluffing is allowed!

14.  Range finders are allowed but must be shared with the opponent.

15.  Fagan will have an official copy of the PGA rules for any questions.

16.  Smitty will explain how to fill out scorecard after draft night.  It is expected that the person with the official scorecard will fill out the proper way.
